The pipe wrapping WS is a flexible building material that is intumescent in the event of fire. It is designed to insulate non-combustible pipes with synthetic rubber insulation
If used in a wall transition, the pipe wrapping WS must be applied to both sides with an overhang of 65 mm. If used in ceiling passages, an overhang of 65 mm is only required on the underside.
Several layers of the tubular wrapping WS are required, depending on the thickness of the synthetic rubber insulation:
Thickness <=13 mm - 1 layer
Thickness >=13 mm - 2 layers
Use two winds of winding wire to secure the layers.
Characteristic values of the potential insulation brands:
K-Flex ST: Building material class B-s3, d0, RG 49 kg/m³, in accordance with DIN 13501-1, thickness 6-50 mm, installation length = component thickness plus >= 375 mm on both sides
Armaflex NH /AF: Building material class B-s2, d0, RG 49 kg/m³, in accordance with DIN 13501-1, thickness 6-50 mm, installation length = component thickness plus >= 375 mm on both sides
Other brans can be used if they correspond to the characteristic values of the insulation discussed above.
Application area:
The pipe wrapping WS is used for fire protection partitioning of non-flammable pipes with synthetic rubber insulation in light partition walls, solid walls and ceilings as part of the WS soft fire stop system. It can also be used in mortar partitioning.
Installations according to the specifications of the German model pipe system guidelines (MLAR) and the German model timber construction guidelines are also permitted.
Advantages:
- Fast and easy to apply.
- Fire partitioning of non-flammable pipes up to dia. 250 mm with flammable insulation (synthetic rubber) e.g. copper, structural steel, stainless steel or cast iron pipes.
- More economical than many comparable wraps, as fewer layers are required.
